2. Easy tropical rainforest day trek
This trek starts with a 1 hours journey by mini-bus to a big Dai village north of Jinghong. From there there is a jungle footpath parallel to a small mountain river that we will follow for about 1.5 hours. We will have a break midway and then continue to the waterfall where you will encounter a lot of ancient trees and fascinating rainforest plant species. This trip s particularly worthwhile during the rainy season (May to October). Afterwards we walk downhill along the rocks (in the dry season) back to the Dai village and get the bus back to Jinghong. The whole experience lasts about 5 hours.
NOTE: with more and more tourist go to the forest, more and more rubbish was left in the forest. Please take away the rubbish and leave your love in the beautiful forest!

The sky became quiet hazy after without any raining, it was merely over a month now.None of us expecting a spectacular sunset while we were walking along Meikong in a dusty tractor path. The high up path gives a great view of the river that stretching, motionless, emerald snake between the 2 hills. The left side of the bank is abundant bamboo forest, the right side is rubber seeding, it is equally to a money rocking tree, the price of rubber is 30 Yuan per kilogramme at this moment.
The sun rays was descending slowly, I was enthralling with the gold-plating Meikong. I stood there, dumbstruck with the stunning view, somehow I lose words at this moment, is this a piece of flawless satin dropping off by fairy during her leisurely roaming? There was no way to tell where the satin like starts, the rubber seeding and bamboo forest became nearly pitch dark green, it againsts this fabulous gliding river quiet.
This spot is located to the sign of 10 kilometers.Bookworms were reading books here, 2 hours reading flew away without knowing, beer tastes better in this location.
Another unforgetable view was popping up in my mind now, it was in december in 2007.A fogy morning, the cotton like mist was floating fully above the meikong river, where we were walking along the same tractor path, the mist reached the edge of the path, we felt as we were walking on the top of the clouds in a minute.
As trekking guide, I am very lucky, lots of stunning views might only appear once, never be the same.People often ask me:“ how many times have I done this trek?”. It can be the same, diffirent clients, to be the same spot in diffirent season or difirent time of the day, small evens change too, encounting new villagers....Unfortunetely if person is not very intereted in nature, his or her obeservation is poor.I often say“ if you think tree is tree, I won‘t recommend you go to the Botanical garden in Menlun” half jokingly.
